Nature, one of the world's most prestigious scientific journals and one of the most highly cited interdisciplinary science journals has recently dedicated an issue to Food.
This issue focuses on the global challenge in 2050, when around 9 billion people will have to be fed. According to Nature, scientific community generally agrees that producing enough food for 2050 will be relatively easy, but very costly. In order to achieve this objective food production must be first improved and secondly increased. Therefore Nature highlights the significance of scientific knowledge and its application to reach these objectives by 2050.
The issue focuses through more specific articles on: (1) World hunger and the increasing world population; (2) the role of agricultural and biotech companies and public sector in the achievement of goals for 2050; (3) impact of plant breeding in increase of crop yields and (4) a detail vision of Brazil's capabilities to become the Global Farm.
Therefore we recommend the reading these articles, in order to have a better idea of where we are and where are we going in this global food challenging times.
