Symposium 2009

Inaugural Symposium of IPFN, 2009

The Inaugural Symposium of the Irish Phytochemical Food Network (IPFN) is the first in a series of annual symposia focussing on examining phytochemicals from fruits and vegetables in a Farm to Fork approach (agronomic factors, levels in selected vegetables, effects of processing and storage, understanding of consumer attitudes) in an Irish context.
This inaugural meeting took place on the 17th April 2009 and aimed to promote dialogue between different stakeholders (food scientists, food industry, community groups...) on phytochemicals and their impact in human health in Ireland.

In addition the Symposium succesfully aimed to provide an update on the current tends from an Irish perspective.
The symposium is organized by Irish Phytochemical Food Network, which is funded by the Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Food (FIRM Ref. Num. 06/NITARFC6).
The Inaugural Symposium was comprised of a series of lectures, short talks and poster sessions.
